	Hotels in Thimpu
Deluxe	Terma Linca A very new hotel, the stone-and-wood built Terma Linca (Treasure Cottages) is beautifully designed in a 'minimalist-bhutanese' style and situated in a lovely position on a curve of the river. The other side of the hotel overlooks a rustic scene of rice paddies and fields, but the rooms overlook the river and you can lie in bed and watch the river go by. Deluxe	Taj Tashi Although a more conventional city hotel than the Terma Linca, the Taj Tashi (a member of the upmarket Taj hotel chain) has been cleverly designed in the Bhutanese style. The spectacular atrium has a double height restaurant, and the 66 rooms and suites are all beautifully furnished in Bhutanese style. Standard	Phuntsho Pelri The Phuntsho Pelri is a modest hotel, conveniently situated behnd the main street of Thimpu and only a few steps away from the shops and cafes. Rooms are generously proportioned and comfortable, with good beds, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The foyer has a nice restaurant, internet room and souvenir shops, and the staff are very friendly.

	Hotels in Punakha
Standard	Damchen Resort This hotel sits by the river side a kilometer or so outside Punakha itself, near the little new town of Khuruthang. The hotel has be rebuilt and enlarged recently and the rooms are cosy and furnished in local style. The pleasant restaurant has views of the river and there is a riverside deck for summer alfresco drinking.

Deluxe	UMA The UMA is a lovely hotel nestled in pine woods with lovely views of the Paro valley. The hotel is built from stone and arranged around a delightful central courtyard. Deluxe	Zhiwa Ling The Zhiwa Ling is spectacular new hotel near the Paro River, and has the most striking foyer built from carved and decorated wood that took a team of 64 local craftsmen over 3 years to produce. Standard	Olathang Built in 1974 for the coronation of the fourth King, the Olathang enjoys an elevated position above Paro and is set in lovely gardens. With friendly staff and a good restaurant the Olathang is a comfortable retreat, with a good restaurant and cosy bar.

	Hotels in Bumthang
Standard	Wangdichholing Hotel Wangduechholing is a relatively new hotel opened in 2009, located in Jakar in the Bumthang valley. There are 20 very spacious rooms with twin beds. Most of the rooms have high ceilings and wood panelled walls, and all rooms have a Bukhari (fire-wood stove), a sitting area and balcony to sit outside. There is a bar and lounge on the upper level, and the restaurant and reception on the ground floor.


	All the hotels we use in Bhutan are clean and comfortable, and all have en-suite facilities. Only the Taj Tashi hotel has an (indoor) swimming pool.
