Built around a central decked pool area and garden the hotel also features a super dining terrace right by the river. The seafood buffet here is fabulous, and costs just £14! The hotel runs a regular shuttle boat to the nearby sky train terminus for quick transportation to the main areas of Bangkok.

Superior	Montien Riverside The Montien Riverside is a large 4-5* hotel near the Chaoprya river. It has undergone extensive renovation recently, and has a large airy lobby and dining area, together with a good choice of restaurants and other facilities. .
Standard	Montien The Montien is a decent comfortable hotel in a good situation close to the main shopping areas of Bangkok city centre. The hotel has a pleasant conservatory style lobby, and a nice pool area at the rear of the building.
Standard	Asia The enduringly popular Asia Hotel is always heaving with activity - several good restaurants (the buffet at the lobby 'Tivoli' coffee shop is particularly good value) and the extremely good position (the second floor of the hotel connects directly to the Bangkok Transit System) will ensure it remains popular.

The hotel has two swimming pools, and a small private beach, together with all the luxuries you would expect from the Dusit Group. We believe it to be the best hotel in Pattaya, a peaceful retreat from the bustle of Pattaya town.

The Orchid is also a popular choice, offering as it does extensive tropical gardens, a lovely pool, and a low-key, relaxed atmosphere. Superior	Montien Pattaya Sister hotel to the Montien's in Bangkok, the Montien Pattaya is a very good standard resort hotel with a good position across the road from the beach, pleasant tropical gardens and a good pool area.

Std/Sup	Imperial Golden Triangle The sister hotel of the Imperial in Chiang Mai, this medium-size hotel is designed in a style rather reminiscent of an 'Alpine Lodge'. The building takes advantage of lovely views over the Golden Triangle and offers a range of bars and restaurants. Local shops, bars and restaurants are nearby.

Superior	Tamarind Village The Tamarind Village is right in the centre of Chiang Mai, but you wouldn't guess it when you are there as it is most secluded. A lovely boutique-style hotel, it has been built around courtyards and cloisters, more reminiscent of a monastery than a hotel. Nothing monastic about the comforts, though! Superior	Amari Rincome The Rincome is a very comfortable and pleasant hotel, a member of the very reliable Amari Hotels Group. The rooms are well-sized and nicely decorated, and the hotel is decorated throughout with local Thai handicrafts. There is a good sized pool and lovely gardens.
Standard	Imperial Mae Ping Situated in the centre of Chiang Mai, the Imperial is well placed for the shops and night markets of Chiang Mai. A larger hotel, the Imperial has extensive gardens and a good pool area and we think it makes a comfortable base from which to explore Chiang Mai.
Standard	Central Duangtawan The Central Duangtawan Hotel is, as its name suggests, situated in the centre of Chiang Mai. A large establishment, it has large comfortable rooms,a 'penthouse' restaurant and a very attractive swimming pool.

Deluxe	Dusit Island Resort The Dusit Island Resort is a member of the Dusit Hotels Group, and is situated on an island the river, a short drive from Chiang Rai center (there is 'shuttle bus'). A haunt of royalty - a member of the Thai royal family was using the pool on the afternoon we visited so we couldn't take any pictures!
Superior	Legend A very charming and informal hotel, the Legend occupies a peaceful riverside location near Chiang Rai town. The hotel has stylish rooms decorated in a local style, many with 'exterior' shower rooms, and some with their own private plunge pools. A restful place from which to explore the Chiang Rai region. Standard	Wiang Inn The Wiang Inn is a modest but comfortable (3*) hotel in Chiang Rai town. The hotel is very well situated a short walk from the night market and main shopping streets of Chiang Rai. It has a nice swimming pool and comfortable restaurant, and the rooms are pleasant and well sized.

Standards of service are as you would expect of such a good resort.
Superior	Tropicana The Tropicana is a delightful bungalow resort of 77 rooms all set in a very lush tropical garden. Each bungalow is fully equipped with mini bar and coffee/tea making facilities, together with air conditioning and for those who prefer, fans. The spaciousness of the rooms is accentuated by full glass frontages and exotic outdoor showers - allowing you to enjoy nature at its finest. A lovely pool and beach complete the picture. The Tropicana is situated about 0.5km from the road in a quit position.
Superior	Panviman Like the Tropicana, the Panviman is situated 0.5km or so from the road, in a quiet seafront location. The accommodation is in Thai-style bungalows, which are spacious and very well decorated, also in a very Thai style. The super-stylish bathrooms have both shower and bath with a water cascade. near to the beach, a free-form swimming pool is complimented by rocks and grottos.
Superior	Cliff Beach Resort The Cliff Beach Resort appears here twice as it has rather a split personality. The upper part of the resort is situatied on the rocky headland at the top of Kai Bae beach, and a small number of thai-style bungalows enjoy sun decks with absolutely stunning views. Also at this upper level, a knockout infinity-pool with Jacuzzi offers amazing views and a sun deck. (Please note: lots of steps from the beach to the pool/thai bungalows.). Meanwhile down at the beach....
Standard	Cliff Beach Resort The lower part of the resort offers accommodation in bungalows and two-storey buildings all set in delightful tropical gardens with a good beach, a second swimming pool, beach bar and cafe.
Standard	Chang Park Resort Although rather a ragbag of architectural styles, The Chang Park offers conventional hotel rooms in its main block, thai-style bungalows in the garden, and several villas for larger parties. However the main strengths of the Chang Park are the large lawns rolling down to the sea, a large free-form swimming pool with a kiddies pool built into one end and definitely the best beach on this part of the island.

	Hotels in Koh Samet
Deluxe	Le Vimarn Cottages The luxurious and stylish Le Vimarn Cottages is a lovely resort set in beautiful gardens on Ao Prao bay. The hotel has a delightful pool and lounging area, and the beach is a few steps away. Although very deluxe, the atmosphere is very relaxed, in keeping with the laid-back style of Koh Samet.
Superior	Ao Prao Resort Just along from Le Vimarn Cottages, the Ao Prao sits at the end of Ao Prao Bay. Although it has no pool, the hotel is right next to the beach, and has a series of pretty cottages built up the hillside surrounded by lush gardens. You can step off the restaurant terrace straight onto the beach.
Standard	Sametville Resort The Sametville Resort is a simple establishment, and so laid-back its nearly horizontal. Situated on a magnificent sweep of bay, the resort comprises cottages built amongst the trees, and is the only place on this bay. The restaurant in the hotel gardens serves simple, tasty fare, including a beach side barbeque every evening. A real wind-down.
