Phu Quoc

Rising from the southern tip of Vietnam and stranded just off the southern coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand, Phu Quoc is classed as a district of Kien Giang Province. The island is famous through out Vietnam for its black pepper & fish sauce but is changing rapidly for its lush forests and fine beaches.
The island's only settlement of any size is Duong Dong in the west coast. The unspoilt beaches circle the island lined with coconut trees & white sand. The more appealing east coast is largely undeveloped & best during dry season from November to April. The best beach is Bai Kem. The name means " ice cream beach" and refers to its white soft sand. The next beach along, Bai Sao is a stretch of long sweeping sand. Vong Beach is another good spot further up the east coast. A boat can be hired to Thev An Thoi Island for swimming and snorkelling in crystal clear water over lovely corals.
