12 day tour of Yunnan (China) including Tibet.
Day 1 Kunming
Arriving Kunming, our China representative will be at the airport to welcome you
& transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour including the famous Bamboo Temple
which dates back to the Tang dynasty with 500 colorful clay Buddhas & also a Taoist temple,
the Golden Temple. Dinner at local restaurant. (D)
Day 2 Kunming
This morning we visit Shilin's famous Stone Forest. Lunch at a local restaurant
serving the local dish Yiliang duck. Return to Kunming with city tour of Golden
Horse & Green Cockerel Archway. (B/L)
Day 3 Kunming - Tibet
Transfer to airport for your flight to Lhasa, Tibet. Pick up & transfer to
your hotel. On the way we visit the Nietang Buddha. After lunch at local
restaurant in market square, we visit the Sera Monastery. This monastery was
founded in 1419. The debating & teaching among the monks that takes place
in the courtyard garden between 3:30pm to 5:00pm every day is the highlight
of the visit. Afterwards we return to the market square, Barkhor, & visit
Jokhang Temple. This temple is 1300 years old & is Tibet's holiest shrine.

Day 4 Lhasa, Tibet
Today we visit the magnificent Potala Palace, Tibet's best known landmark. It was once
the winter residence of Dalai Lamas. Afterwards we drive 7km west of Lhasa to visit
the 15th century Drepung Monastery in its rural environment. After lunch, we visit
the Norbulingka Park, the Summer Palace of Dalai Lamas. This is a parkland
with golden palaces, peaceful pavilions, lakes & gardens.

Day 5 Lhasa - Shangrila
This morning transfer to airport for your flight to Shangri-La. Pick up &
transfer to hotel. After lunch at local restaurant, we visit the famous
300 year old Songzanlin Monastery where the Yellow Hat School of Tibetan
Buddhism is practiced. We return to town & visit the old town of
Zhongdian. Visit to the central square for local peoples nightly music &
dancing. (B/L/D)
Day 6 Shangrila
This morning about 2 hours drive through mountain scenery & Yangtze River gorges
to the mountainside Dong Zhu Lin Monastery. Lunch at a local village
restaurant & drive back to town. On the way visit a local Tibetan family
home. If time permits, we will visit visit Bita Hai (Emerald Pagoda Lake).

Day 7 Shangrila - Lijiang
This morning drive to Lijiang. On the way visit the Tiger Leaping Gorges which is
believed to be the deepest gorge in the world. Upon arriving at Lijiang
transfer to hotel. After lunch we begin our tour of the famous
ancient town of Lijiang. (B/L)
Day 8 Lijiang
A free day at leisure in this wonderful old town to enjoy & shopping in the ancient
town. (B)
Day 9 Lijiang - Dali
This morning we begin the early morning tour of the famous Black Dragon Pool Park.
On the way to Dali we visit Baisha village. This ancient village dates back
Qing dynasty with old Chinese houses and has hardly changed through the years.
Upon arrival in Dali in the late afternoon transfer to hotel.

Day 10 Dali
This morning, a tour of Dali's famous ancient walled city. After lunch we visit the
Three Pagodas. (B/L)
Day 11 Dali - Kunming
This morning, a 3 hour boat tour on Erhai Lake. After lunch we drive back to
Kunming. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. (B/L)
Day 12 Departure
Transfer to airport for your return flight or to your next destination.
