10 day tour including cruises on the River Li at Guilin & the Yangtze.
Day 1 Chengdu
Arriving Chengdu, our Chinese representative will be at the airport to welcome
you & transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour includes Wenshu Temple, the
Tomb of Wang Jian & People's Park.
Day 2 Chengdu - Guilin
Transfer to airport for your flight to Guilin. Pick up & transfer to your
hotel. Today we visit the Reed Flute Cave, named after the reeds that grow near it
used in the making of flutes . The cave system has striking natural limestone formations
that are illuminated by coloured lighting. Afterwards, we visit Elephant Trunk Hill, a
remarkable natural feature. (B/L)
Day 3 Guilin Li River Cruise
This morning we join a cruise that will take us on a voyage of discovery
along the Li River. The river wends its way through the unique scenery of
Karsts (limestone mountains) that have strange and fabulous shapes. Admire
the shapes and try to guess their names (Crown Rock, Conch Hill, Jade
Lotus Peak and Snow Lion Peak are just a few) while enjoying lunch on board.
Finally arrive at Yangshuo and check at hotel. (B/L)
Day 4 Yangshuo
A free day at leisure to enjoy Yangshuo. It is a charming town
with breathtaking scenery. Have a pot of tea in one of the many teahouses
or rent a bicycle to visit the Moon Hill and the Big Banyan Tree. (B)
Day 5 Yangshuo - Guilin - Chongqin
Drive back to Guilin by car & transfer to airport for your flight to Chong Qin.
Visit Ciqikou Ancient Town dating back to the Ming dynasty, the city square, the theatre
& the 3 Dams museum (if time permits). Transfer to pier to join cruise ship
for your Yangtze River. Overnight on board. (B)
Day 6 Yangtze River Cruise, Chongqin - Fengdu
At eight this morning we set out along the Yangtze River at the start of the
river voyage. During the relaxing morning, you can enjoy all the sights of the
river. After lunch we will make a stop for a visit to the Ghost City of Fengdu,
famous for its temple dedicated to the King of the Underworld, an association
dating back to the Han Dynasty. (B/L/D)
Day 7 Yangtze River Cruise, Fengdu - Badong
As you progress along the mighty river, you arrive at Badong, here you will
transfer to a small junk and explore the Shennong Stream. The trip features a
fantastic natural backdrop and a wonderful boat ride along the crystal stream.
The most impressive scene is a team of trackers push and haul the wooden
sampans over the shallow rapids. Sometimes, the pea boats allow you to
take a closerlook at mossy rocks, verdant plants, ancient plank roads,
hanging coffins and rare flying monkeys. Afterwards we go back on board
to continue the cruise. (B/L/D)
Day 8 Yangtze River Cruise, Badong - Sandouping - Chengdu
Today we will arrive at Sandouping and see the Three Gorges Dam Project. Now
virtually complete, this is the largest project of its kind ever undertaken
anywhere in the world. Not only does the dam fulfill the function of
controlling the floodwaters of the Yangtze but will also provide eco-friendly
hydroelectric power. After that, we drive to Yichang then transfer to
airport to fly to Chendu. Pick up and transfer to the hotel. (B/L)
Day 9 Chengdu
Today visit the world famous Giant Panda Research Centre. (B/L)
Day 10 Chengdu - Departure
Transfer to airport for your return flight home. (B)
